Getting Saint Paul’s Youth on the Right Track

Only Nine Days Left to Apply!

Finding a job can be tough – especially if you’re young.   Experience, education and persistence are all contributing factors in finding quality employment. Right now, 32 percent of Saint Paul youth are unemployed – that means that 32 percent are missing out on opportunities for the next step in their lives, whether that’s a college career or becoming workforce ready.

Earlier this month, the City of Saint Paul launched its Right Track initiative, which is a pipeline approach for developing our students and youth into the bright, sophisticated workforce of the future. Right Track places Saint Paul youth into entry-level jobs at parks, libraries and 25 nonprofit organizations during the summer. Additionally, youth who are going into 11th or 12th grade and have worked a job before or have a strong teacher/counselor recommendation may qualify for professional internships with partners such as Ecolab, Travelers, and Metropolitan Council.

If you, or a student you know, are looking for an opportunity to learn and develop skills for the future, please check here for more information on eligibility and the application . Remember, the deadline is fast-approaching on March 14, make sure to apply soon. Employing our youth is not only about providing a paycheck – it’s about developing the future of our workforce.
