Ten years ago this summer, a new, free outdoor summer music series joined the Lowertown neighborhood, and after a decade of unprecedented revitalization downtown, Music in Mears will celebrate its 10-year anniversary starting this Thursday. With its most impressive lineup yet, Music in Mears will host local musicians, food trucks and Summit beer every Thursday evening (except July 4) from June 6 through August 29.
Martin Devaney, seen below performing at Eclipse Records in downtown Saint Paul, is kicking off this year’s series on Thursday night.
Music in Mears is just one great example of the revitalization Saint Paul's downtown, and particularly Lowertown, has undergone this past decade. With new businesses, restaurants, entertainment venues, food trucks and more events than Saint Paul has ever seen before, it's no wonder Minnesota Monthly recently named Lowertown the best neighborhood in Minnesota.
This renaissance hasn't happened by chance. It is the result of strategic city and community investment. We’ve built a city that is friendly and attractive, and people and businesses are responding. People are investing in Saint Paul because Saint Paul is investing in itself – its culture, its infrastructure, and its vibrancy.
Happy birthday, Music in Mears! We’re looking forward to another 10 years.
